Camden: The Grim reality of War.
Camden, the town, is actually located in South Carolina. The Battle, however, actually took place North of the town, about five to ten miles North of it.
Both sides of the fighting would suffer casualties, naturally. The British had about 68 men killed in action, 245 wounded, and about 11 missing. They said to have captured about 1,000 prisoners, many of which that were wounded. Although a website that documents the battle of Camden states the fate of 48 Continental officers: 5 were killed, 4 died of wounds, 4 were wounded without being captured, 11 were wounded and captured and 24 were captured without being wounded at all. These ratios suggest that a significant amount of Americans wounded in battle escaped capture.
